Card formatting
Math with LaTeX, highlighted code, and light text styling on your cards.
Card fields are plain text with a little markup. Formatting works on the front, back and extra fields, and renders the same on every device.
Math (LaTeX)
Write LaTeX between delimiters. Math is rendered with KaTeX.
| Write | For |
|---|---|
\( e^{i\pi} + 1 = 0 \) | Inline math (the MathJax style) |
\[ \int_0^1 x^2\,dx = \tfrac{1}{3} \] | Display math, centered on its own line |
$a^2 + b^2 = c^2$ | Inline math |
$$\sum_{k=1}^{n} k = \frac{n(n+1)}{2}$$ | Display math |
Code
Put code in a fenced block with a language name for syntax highlighting:
```rust
fn main() {
println!("hello, askesis");
}
```Highlighted languages: Rust, TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, SQL, Bash, JSON, Go, Java, C, C++, CSS, HTML/XML, YAML and Markdown. Without a language name, Askesis guesses from that list. Long lines scroll sideways inside the card. For inline code, use single backticks: `Vec<T>`.
Text styling
| Write | Result |
|---|---|
**bold** | bold |
*italic* | italic |
_italic_ | italic |
| A line break | Kept as a line break |
HTML isn’t rendered, so cards are safe to share. HTML in imported files is converted, see Coming from another app.
