The daily chest
What the daily chest is, how to open it, what each chest tier holds, and how the weekly chest and its streak freeze work.
What is the daily chest?
The daily chest is a small reward you can open once per study day on your dashboard. Each chest holds a random amount of XP, which moves you towards your next level, and coins. It’s a reason to drop by every day, even on days you only have a few minutes.
How to open it
- Open your dashboard. The chest card sits next to your daily quests.
- Press Open chest. It rattles for a moment, then bursts open and shows what you got.
- Come back after your study day rolls over (4 AM in your time zone by default) for the next one.
You don’t have to study before opening it. The reward is decided on the server when you open it, so it’s the same on every device and can’t be opened twice.
Chest tiers
The longer your study streak, the better the chest:

Your streak counts the days in a row you’ve reviewed at least one card; see streaks and freezes.
The weekly chest
Open a chest seven days in a row and the seventh is a weekly chest: it holds double the XP and coins of its tier, and it banks a streak freeze if you have room (you can hold two). The chest card shows seven slots so you can see how far along the run you are. Missing a day starts the run over, but nothing you’ve earned is taken away.
XP and coins
XP from the chest counts towards your level just like XP from answering cards (see levels and XP). Coins are a score you collect: you also earn them from daily quests, from reaching your daily goal and from the occasional lucky find while studying. There’s nothing to spend them on yet.

- What is the daily chest in Askesis?
- A reward you can open once per study day on your dashboard. It holds random XP and coins, and its tier (bronze, silver, gold or diamond) grows with your study streak.
- Do I have to study before opening the daily chest?
- No. You can open it as soon as your study day starts; studying keeps your streak going, which makes future chests better.
- When does the daily chest reset?
- When your study day rolls over: 4 AM in your time zone by default, configurable in Settings.
- What is a weekly chest?
- The seventh chest in a row. It holds double the XP and coins of its tier and banks a streak freeze if you have room for one.
- What happens if I miss a day?
- Your run of chests starts over at day one, but you keep everything you have already earned.
- What are coins for?
- For now coins are a score you collect from chests, quests, daily goals and lucky finds. There is no shop.
